What sparked my interest in photography
During the Singapore Fireworks Festival 2006, many were planning to go down to the Esplanade, Sheares Bridge, basically a location near where the fireworks were to be set off in order to get a good view.
Some were eager to bring their cameras and accessories (like me) to capture photos of the fireworks. Others prefer to enjoy the entire show without being distracted by triggering shutters.
Though no one has ever asked me explicitly: "Why do you want to go through the hassle of taking photos when it's easier to enjoy the fireworks without distractions", they did say they would prefer to go just to watch fireworks after hearing that I intend to bring my camera along.
It's quite true that no one can concentrate on taking photos and enjoying fireworks at the same time, because at least half of the time is spent looking at the camera LCD instead of the real incendiaries.
My photos were never meant for my personal enjoyment. Photographs are pictures that have captured moods and atmospheres in them. By taking photos, I can share these pleasant feelings (normally I take photos with positive moods) on top of getting 1 more momento.
Yes, it's true that I can enjoy fireworks better if I wasn't taking photos at the same time, but I feel happier sharing the photos, especially with those who are not able to catch them

Congrats my fellow monster killer for you-know-wat-la!!! One question, will we kill monsters together as in the past?
I've never intended to give up monster killing for good, but I need a break after so many years of hard work, ha ha ha.
We will go back to monster killing as in the past, rest assured. But not so soon, ok? :)
HCl: thanks for appreciating my photos!
