Food for thought.....or thinking of food?

Nothing profound. Nothing philisophical. Just food. Lots and lots of food.

KPunk

This is nothing like the variety show "Punk'd".

This is a comprehensive guide to getting MORE than your money's worth when you visit KBox.

*********************************

Step 1: Puncutality is a virtue, and has its benefits as well.

Huijun booked a room for 4 at Suntec's KBox, asking for student rate. Most of us are smart enough to keep our matriculation cards with us wherever we go, so we could get through that without any problems at all.

Shijie and I reached Suntec early to buy shirts and have lunch, and we were done by 1.30 pm. Our room was booked from 2 pm to 5 pm, but the 2 of us decided to try if they'll alow us to start early.

The place was rather empty for a Friday afternoon, so the receptionist let us in after a "Oh, you guys are so early."

Step 2: Tell them you're a student even though you're not.

Though we have not officially graduated (ceremony is next Tuesday), our student privileges have been terminated, such as the Ezlink student's concession. Technically, we're neither here nor there now, but come a few days and we're officially and technically graduates.

Alright, the main point is to keep your student pass and whatever cards that has your photo and states that you're a student of some institution. Always ask for student rate at the reception and show them the necessary identification when asked.

Step 3:Just sing to your hearts' content

Our group had a total of 5 -Yun Yun, Lixia, Huijun, Shijie and me. Yun Yun goes to KTV with her cousins and friends once in a while, Lixia was a choir member, Huijun sings KTV very often, Shijie does a lot of secret training behind the privacy of his doors. Everyone was impressive in their own way.

Huijun is an expert brainwasher. No wonder everyone in her former FYP lab is a JJ fan now. Her technique is as such: consistently singing JJ's songs (including songs written by JJ), then repeating in a very soothing and hypnotic voice "JJ's songs are good. JJ's songs are good."

Ha ha, just kidding. JJ's songs ARE good.

Why does he always get the girls? Because the other one is under 24 hours surveillance.

Step 4: I don't wanna leave!

3 hours passes very quickly, especially when you have 5 singers singing away in a room. Even more so when 2 of the 5 are marathon singers.

*deep bow*

*and another on behalf of Shijie*

When someone came to collect our payment, Huijun beseechingly said, "I don't wanna leave!". That was still 15 minutes before 5 pm. The girl who collected our payment gave us a weird look and exited the room. We saw that most of the rooms were still vacant and decided not to move until someone comes to chase us away.

Step 5: Ok ok, this is our last song.

1 hour later.

A guy opened our door, said, "Time's up. Please make this your last song.", and went off without waiting for a response. Not that we would give him a positive response anyway. The key to this game is shamelessness. The more shameless you are, the more you get out of your money's worth. Our song list continued to grow.

Another hour later.

The same guy returned to our room. This time, his tone was less friendly, "You have really exceeded the allowance we gave you. This will have to be your last song."

He left as abruptly as before.

"Bye." Huijun said after him.

There were still vacant rooms around, but we figured that singing for 5 hours when we've only paid for 3 hours at student rate was the limit. More importantly, we're getting hungry.

We did apologise to the guy when we left the room. It still matters to be polite despite our behaviour.

Warning!

This works only when the KTV has a lot of vacant rooms around.

Author's note: Just read for fun. Don't go around playing punk. And don't think too badly of Huijun either.
