Food for thought.....or thinking of food?

Nothing profound. Nothing philisophical. Just food. Lots and lots of food.

Eh, what's up doc?

Every time I see a rabbit, I'm reminded of Bugs Bunny, which further reminds me of his trademark pet phrase. Yes yes, I've been watching too many cartoons as a child.

Last night, I gave up on my Automation in Manufacturing term paper (for the 3rd time? 4th? lost count), and decided to go over to Shijie's place to look at his rabbit's litter of newborns. He has 2 litters of 4 rabbits each, 1 of which is 5 weeks old and the other about 3 days old.

The newborns were still pink and furless, their eyes closed (for the 1st ten days after birth), and they move about by tumbling and stumbling. Just like the newborns of most mammals that you see in documentaries. I held 1 of them in my hands. The little baby seemed to want to get up and hop around, but was too weak to do so.

The newborns could not be exposed to light and were kept in a basket lined with towels, and an additional towel covering the part of the basket and held in place by pegs. The covering was necessary as newborns could not be exposed to too much light. Which also means he can't take photos of them unless he used the night shoot option.

But you shall not be disappointed, for there's photos of the 5 week old litter.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you:

From left: Milo, don't-know-it's-name-because-it-was-already-given-away, Kopi and anonymous.

I only saw 3 little youngsters hopping around when I was there, because 1 of them was already given to a friend. Shijie told me he named them according to different beverages by the colour of their fur. Milo was so called because its brown (don't see why he can't use Teh or Kopi, they're just different shades of brown), Kopi because it has the greatest area of black (should be called Kopi-O instead).

Name the Rabbit Contest

Come one! Come all! Suggest a name for the rabbit (on the extreme right in the above photo).
Condition: The name must be the name of a beverage that can be found in coffeeshops and it has to match the colour of its fur.
Prize: You get to keep the rabbit!

Yeap, he's giving them away. 2 litters are more than he can handle. Just to give a little introduction, Milo is the kind that can crouch down quietly beside you and let you stroke it, Kopi is hyperactive, always trying to jump out of its cage, and the anonymous rabbit seemed rather sleepy when I arrived. He also wishes to give away the newborn litter when they're old enough. Shijie did say he wishes to keep at least 2 for himself, but he hasn't decided which 2 to keep yet.

Baby rabbits anyone?

To no one in particular: nothing beats the real thing. Don't kidnap your sister's soft toy, get a real one for yourself.

And smile, because ermmmmm......the rabbits are cute?

Actually I was thinking that since there's already a Milo and a Kopi, might as well have a Teh. Can't really go wrong with that right? But final decision lies with the owner.

What is teh alia?

After much discussion, min and I decided HCl suits the rabbit the most, even though it violates the rule of the contest.
